Hints and information on how to efficiently navigate the Fort Lauderdale/Miami/West Palm Beach areas.

This area is served by three airports; Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL), Miami International (MIA) and Palm Beach International (PBI). Here is some information on how to get to the various cities and between these airports:
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL)
- The Broward County Transit serves the airport with the #1 bus PDF files of the route can be found here. The bus stops at Terminal 1, between Terminals 2 and 3 and finally between Terminals 3 and 4 on the arrival level.
- At the time of this writing, the fare is 1.25 USD. You may also purchase an unlimited all day pass for 3.00 USD. There are also other types of passes available on their Web site.
- The Ft. Lauderdale Airport Tri-Rail station is accessible by taking the Tri-Rail shuttle from the arrivals level at each terminal. You can take the Tri-Rail to other cities in the vicinity as well as to the Miami International airport station and the West Palm Beach station (Palm Beach International Airport access via Palm Tran Routes 40 or 44 and on Palm Tran Holiday Route “Trains to Planes” ). You can find a system map here. The Broward, Dade and Palm Beach county transit buses serve the Tri-Rail station so you are well connected to get to the airports.
- A sample one-way fare from FLL to MIA is 5.00 USD on the weekend and 3.75 USD on weekdays. The weekend round trip fare is 5.00 USD. Use the online fare calculator to figure out the cost for your journey.
- If you are heading for downtown Miami you can transfer to the Metrorail at the Tri-Rail/Metrorail Transfer Station which is between the Hialeah Market and Opa-locka Stations. Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach is accessible from the Fort Lauderdale and Mangonia Park stations respectively.
- No discount is available for airline employees.
- SuperShuttle service is not available from FLL, but you can be dropped off there.
- Tri-county Airport Express provides shared and limousine door to door service. They also provide service to PBI and MIA.

- Miami International (MIA)
- The Miami-Dade County Transit serves the airport with the
following buses:
- The buses stop at each terminal on the arrival level (except for the Tri-Rail Airport Shuttle which only stops at Concourse E). Check the system map [PDF] to figure out which bus to take.
- Use the Trip Planner for assistance. You can also get maps and additional information at the airport information center in Concourse E.
- At the time of this writing, the fare is 2.00 USD. If you take an Express bus, then it is 2.35 USD.
- The Miami Airport Tri-Rail station is accessible by taking the Tri-Rail shuttle from the arrivals level of Concourse E. Here is the shuttle schedule. You can take the Tri-Rail to other cities in the vicinity as well as to the Fort Lauderdale airport station and the West Palm Beach station (Palm Beach International Airport access via Palm Tran Routes 40 or 44 and on Palm Tran Holiday Route “Trains to Planes” ) . - Palm Beach International (PBI)
- The Palm Tran system serves the airport with the #40 bus. The bus stops outside the terminal level one on the outer curb. This bus will take you to downtown West Palm Beach.
- At the time of this writing, the fare is 1.50 USD. You may also purchase an unlimited all day pass for 3.50 USD. There are also other types of passes available on their Web site [PDF].
- The Palm Beach Airport Tri-Rail station is accessible by taking the Palm Tran Routes 40 or 44 and on Palm Tran Holiday Route “Trains to Planes” from outside the terminal level one on the outer curb to the West Palm Beach Tri-Rail station. You can take the Tri-Rail to other cities in the vicinity as well as to the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood and Miami airports. You can find a system map here. The Palm Tran buses serve the Tri-Rail station so you are well connected. Depending on the time of day you arrive, you may have to take a cab to the Tri-Rail station for about 10.00 USD.
- A sample one-way fare from the West Palm Beach station to FLL is 6.25 USD and 6.90 USD to MIA on the weekday and 5.00 USD on weekends. The weekend round trip fare to either airport is 5.00 USD. Use the online fare calculator to figure out the cost for your journey.
